Frequently asked questions

Q: I’m not a member of a gym. Can I still enter?
A: Yes – we have rowing machines available for the public to use at Fitness Matters, Exeter.

Q: How much do I need to raise for the charity?
A: The minimum we would like you to raise if you enter the challenge to row with us is £25.

Q: Do I have to raise money if I enter the challenge and row?
A: If you can fundraise then great but you don’t have to. All you need to do is register your Virgin Money Giving account and deposit the £25 entry fee. Then let us know the distance you plan to row, and get rowing!

Q: How many metres do I have to pledge?
A: You have a choice here. The minimum suggested distance is 31,000m. That is 1000m a day, about 4-5 minutes of rowing depending on your speed. For more experienced rowers, or those after a bigger challenge there are higher brackets to choose from also.

Q: How long will my exact daily distance take me to row?
A: It will depend on how much you wish to challenge yourself. To work out how long different distances will take you at your chosen speeds use this online pace calculator.

Q: Where do I register how many metres I have chosen to row?
A: You can register here.
